She's gone too soon. She left us with great memories although I don't know her personally, her work of arts just sparkles and show who she really is. No boundaries, no religion or race issues, she has opened up our heart and mind to accept the culture, to break the culture barriers. She is truly a Malaysian icon, the one and only woman that has ever bring the smile, laugh, tears and love to all of the Malaysians.

You're My Sweetest Nightingale

Yasmin Ahmad, known as Zulkifley Ahmad before who was a striker in the soccer team and now, a well known film director and composer. Yasmin Ahmad sexuality is questioned by many whether she can change her gender. In my opinion, it is not necessary to question this issues as she is born as hermaphrodite (Khunsa). In Islamic view, people who are born as hermaphrodite can choose whether to be a she or he depending on her behavior. If it drawn to more of a female character, then she can change the sexuality to be a woman and vice versa. Thus, I really think it is rude and disrespectful to judge her for the decision that she has made. I truly care for her and respect her in a way she treats people around her.

Well, if you guys know her, doesn't matter trough her work of arts, her characters and etc, you will know that she is a very loving wife towards her husband. She had come out with 10 significant incidences in her life that has shaped who she is now.

"The day when I got married. After the akad nikah ceremony was over, my husband and I went to our bedroom to perform our first prayer together. At the end of it, we held each other’s hand and wept with joy.”

“The day our divorce was finalized  Just after the divorce, we sat on the bench outside the religious office, looked at each other and wept with sadness.”

The day I married my present husband. The akad nikah was conducted in a small mosque in Subang Jaya. It was drizzling outside. I remembered gazing at the greenery surrounding the mosque and feeling at peace with the world.”

Quotes

“Everyone discusses my art and pretends to understand, as if it were necessary to understand, when it is simply necessary to love.” – Claude Monet

This was taken from one of her favorite quotes which mean that not every arts is difficult and complex, sometimes you just have to sit back and enjoy, then you'll understand.

“When you’re unsure, jump with your eyes closed and legs wide open” – Yasmin Ahmad,

You need to believe, you need to have faith in yourself. Life is about exploring the world. You need to be a risk taker. That's what she had done in her life. Taking chances and jumping off the edge will built a self confidence within yourself.

The Malaysian Legend

The sudden demise of Yasmin Ahmad has left a big hole in film maker industry and felt in millions of the Malaysian people. I choose to write about her because I think that she was a huge inspiration that unite the Malaysian's film industry from then until now.

Yasmin Ahmad is one of the directors I look up to, as for me, her work have a lot of messages which revolves around the Malaysians culture. She has brought a remarkable story telling which for me is fascinating and full of humor. Yasmin Ahmad was known by the Malaysians for her humorous television commercials and films that touches million with the messages that is conveyed in each and every piece of her work between cultures, races and religions.

Yasmin was born in Muar, Johor and began her career as copywriter at Ogilvy and Mather. Soon after that, she moved to Leo Burnett as joint creative director and eventually rising to executive director at the firm's located in the heart of Malaysia.
